By doing so, you are able to choose who has the legal authority to manage your affairs and speak on your behalf if, in the future, you lose capacity to do so yourself because of physical illness, frailty or mental health issues.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t have an LPA and lose the capacity to manage your own affairs, it is likely that an application would have to be made to the Court of Protection which can be costly and time consuming.<\/p>\n<p>Our solicitors can ensure that an LPA is correctly set up.
